Treatment for temporomandibular disorders in Jindalee
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the most important joint in the human body, it is used 2000 times per day and not only for chewing, eating, but also during swallowing, and speaking. Problems with your jaw and the facial muscles surrounding the joint are known as temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
Do you suffer from TMJ pain? Symptoms you could be experiencing include:
- Abnormal sounds from clicking, and popping, to grinding
- Pain in jaw-joint, stiff or sore jaw muscles
- Locking or dislocation of the jaw
- Reduced opening capacity
- Head-aches, migraines, pain in temple area
- Tooth grinding (bruxism)
- Eustachian tube dysfunction, leading to tinnitus, vertigo, and increased middle ear infections
TMD is often incorrectly diagnosed and insufficiently treated resulting in continued pain, and further consequences to the entire body radiating through the neck and spine.
We avoid this at our clinic through the use of joint vibration analysis, and jaw tracker technology to fine tune diagnosis and customise treatment. These techniques are holistic, measuring the vibrations and sounds within the joint in a non-invasive, pain and radiation freeway. When implemented alongside traditional methods our dentist, Dr Herman, can treat even the most complex TMDs.
